FragPunk’s console launch has been postponed by NetEase a day before its scheduled simultaneous with PC release on March 6, 2025. While PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are now delayed due to unforeseen technical issues encountered during the compliance testing phase, the PC game is coming as planned.
According to the FragPunk team’s official statement, during a routine testing phase, they stumbled upon several optimization and adaptation challenges that could potentially tarnish the gaming experience if not addressed.
It is worth noting that NetEase’s development issues are coming on the heels of the major layoffs the company has recently executed and its retreat from US operations toward cheaper labor markets like China and Western Europe.
To those PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players who showed early support to the game through pre-orders, NetEase offers a compensation package that includes all season one engagement rewards accumulated until the new launch date. This package will feature in-game currencies, cosmetics, and bonus experience points. Also, those who pre-ordered will receive an additional $10 worth of in-game currency once the console versions are finally released.
Pre-orders on Xbox and PlayStation are being automatically canceled, with refunds set to process directly through the platform holders. NetEase assures that pre-order bonuses will still be honored in a limited-time offer once the game is available on consoles. The new release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S game versions is yet to be announced.
