SEGA moved Sonic Rumble’s global launch to May 8, 2025. Originally slated for Winter 2024, the game is now aiming for a Spring debut on both Android and iOS.
Developed in collaboration with Rovio, the developer behind Angry Birds, the title is set in a toy world created by Sonic’s arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman. Players will race, compete, and battle their way through different arenas to the soundtrack featuring classic Sonic tunes.
The roster of playable characters will include all main franchise heroes like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman. On top of that, the upcoming title of the Hedgehog’s series will let up to 32 players coop via the Crews feature.
Sonic Rumble will offer different gameplay modes:
- Run, where players just race to the finish,
- Survival, which makes players fight to stay in the game,
- Ring Battle, where the goal is to collect as many rings as possible,
- Quick Rumble mode will offer a fast, one-round challenge for quick play sessions,
- Rival Rank, which makes players compete for extra rewards.
As part of the pre-launch campaign, SEGA is running a registration event with milestone rewards. Once 200,000 players pre-register, they’ll unlock 5,000 Rings, with additional rewards like a Happy Sticker, a Crystal Chao buddy, and some skins, including Garnet Knuckles and Movie Sonic.
