|
- Monopoly GO’s revenue constitutes 23% of Hasbro’s entire Digital Gaming Revenue of the whole of 2024.
- While Digital Gaming Revenue is up, the company’s whole revenue is down by 17% year-over-year.
- Magic: the Gathering has also seen a 1% decline in 2024.
Hasbro released its financial results for the whole year of 2024 and Monopoly GO is having the spotlight due to the absurd amount of money it earned the company. In total, Hasbro’s Digital and Licensed Gaming segment has earned $471.7 million and 23% of that number came from Monopoly GO.
The Digital and Licensed Gaming segment of Hasbro includes all of the video games that are developed by the company as well as those that use the licences of their intellectual properties. Monopoly GO, for example, is a mobile game based on Hasbro’s ultra-popular Monopoly board game. Magic: the Gathering Online and Magic: the Gathering Arena are also included in this segment.

Speaking of Magic: the Gathering, the game’s revenue has decreased by 1% because of the impact of the Lord of the Rings collaboration in the previous year. The whole Digital and Licensed segment of Hasbro has grown 4%, but the overall revenue of the company has declined by 17%. They attribute this decline to the selling of eOne, which was finalized on December 27, 2023.
Hasbro is a toy manufacturing company as well as an entertainment holding company. It owns a number of intellectual properties including My Little Pony, Transformers, G.I. Joe, and the aforementioned Monopoly. Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast in September 1999 which added Magic: the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons to its already growing number of properties at that time.
