Supergiant Games, the developer behind the Hades franchise, has stated on its social media that it has no plans to recast any voice actors for the upcoming Hades 2, despite recent concerns raised by one of its cast members.

Voice actor Marin M. Miller, who voiced Athena and Tisiphone in Hades, recently expressed concerns about the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike potentially affecting her role in the sequel. Speaking on social media, Miller hinted that the strike could lead to her replacement in Hades 2. She explained that if it happened, the decision would not come from her own choosing but rather because the employer, Supergiant Games, might refuse to adopt an interim agreement with the union.

These interim agreements by SAG-AFTRA, would let actors continue their work during the strike under specific protections, including safeguards against the use of AI in performances.

In response, Supergiant Games addressed the situation, emphasizing that the studio has always prioritized strong protections for its voice talent. The developer clarified that none of its games have ever been subject to SAG-AFTRA contracts and that they have always worked with actors outside of union agreements. Supergiant also reiterated its commitment to human-driven content, stating that no generative AI is used in any of its projects, including voiceover work.

Hades, developed by Supergiant Games, has achieved over 1 million copies sold by September 2020, with 700,000 sold during its early access period and an additional 300,000 within three days of its official release. The game holds a Metacritic score of 93. In August 2021, Hades expanded its reach by launching on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, the game was released for iOS in March 2024 through Netflix Games. As of May 2024, “Hades” has sold over 7 million copies just on Steam.

Hades II got an early access release on May 5, 2024. As of February 2025, the game remains in Early Access, with no official full release date announced, as the developer has indicated that the game will stay in Early Access throughout 2025, with plans to release several major updates during this period. The very first of them, The Olympic Update, was released in October 2024, introducing new regions, weapons, and characters. The second one called The Warsong Update, was released in February 2025, adding the god Ares and expanding the game’s content.
