Key points

  1. Konami raises base salaries for domestic employees for the fourth consecutive year.
  2. New recruit employees are going to receive a 5,000JYP raise per month.
  3. Changes take place March 2026.

Konami is planning on raising base salaries for regular employees at its domestic group companies in Japan – a raise effective starting March 2026. This upcoming raise marks Konami’s fourth year of consecutive salary raises.

The initial base salary for new recruits will be increasing to 305,000JPY per month – marking a 5,000JYP increase from the current 300,000JYP, which represents around a $33 raise per month in USD.

This decision to implement a raise was reportedly influenced by Konamis’ belief that their people are their greatest asset.

“The source of our competitiveness in creating these products and services lies in our human resources itself, and we intend to continue to generate innovation driven by our diverse human resources,” Konami stated in their report.

Konami made it clear to the public that they are investing in human capital – a sentiment many other game publishers do not share. By prioritizing their human capital, Konami hopes to improve employee engagement and create better products alongside services.

The decision to increase salaries for employees comes during a time when the gaming industry is facing massive layoffs, with even NetEase laying off a handful of Marvel Rivals developers
