Pokémon TCG Pocket earned the Google Play Best Game of the Year Award for 2025. In Google’s words, they felt that Pokémon TCG Pocket went above and beyond, delivering an authentic version of the physical card game while retaining the joy of collecting cards.
“From flipping coins to tearing open booster packs, its well-designed effects add palpable weight and texture for a vividly tactile experience that brings the whole experience to life,” Google wrote.
Here is a list of other games that received awards:
- Best Multiplayer: Dunk City Dynasty
- Best Pick Up & Play: Candy Crush Solitaire
- Best Indie: Chants of Sennaar
- Best Story: Disco Elysium
- Best Ongoing: Wuthering Waves
- Best on Play Pass: Dredge
The mobile game initially released on Oct. 30, 2024, and has received a steady stream of updates through expansion booster packs. TCG Pocket recently celebrated the launch of Mega Evolutions, which have been dominating the competitive meta.
As of writing, Pokémon TCG Pocket is currently holding a solo event, where players can farm Mega Pidgeot EX. The card disrupts the enemy with Giant Twister Attack, which discards the defending Pokémon’s energy. But if all three coin flips come out tails, the move simply fails to do anything.
