- Dune: Awakening is currently facing dwindling player numbers.
The developers of Dune: Awakening, Funcom, are currently offering a free trial for those who want to try the game out before purchasing it. Players are given 10 hours to play in any server that they like.
The free trial runs from Nov. 20 until Nov. 27, and the developers also mentioned that the progress people made during their free trial phase will carry over to the full game should they purchase it. Additionally, the developers also mentioned that the game will be on discount, slashing the game’s price by 25% which lasts until Dec. 1, 2025.
While this might seem good for those who wanted to get their hands on the game, the free trial is one of the ways Funcom is trying to replenish Dune: Awakening’s dwindling player numbers on Steam.
As of the writing of this article, the game only has around 6,500 daily active users, a far cry from its 189,333 all-time peak on Steam.
Dune: Awakening is an MMORPG developed by Funcom set in the world of Dune. The game is only available on PC right now, but a console version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is being developed with a 2026 release window in mind. The game sold 1 million copies in just two weeks, becoming Funcom’s fastest-selling game.
