The news was shared via a post on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Nov. 20, 2025, along with a promo code, 1M SURVIVORS, which will remain valid until May 17, 2026.
Created by Capcom, Aniplex (a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment), and Joycity, the game was launched for iOS and Android devices. Ahead of release, the title managed to surpass 2 million pre-registrations across both platforms combined.
Resident Evil: Survival Unit follows the story of an unnamed protagonist, a graduate student specializing in biotechnology who came to Raccoon City searching for his missing parents, as he awakens in a mysterious hospital after being used as a test subject by the Umbrella Corporation.
Set in a parallel world to the original series, the title features versions of characters from the original series uncovering the details of a new narrative. Among the known characters are Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Alyssa Ashcroft, Becca Woolett, Marvin Branagh, Ethan Winters, Carlos Oliveira, Ada Wong, Robert Kendo, The Merchant, Katherine Warren, Murphy Seeker, and Tyrone Henry.
