After Cassie Cage’s victorious battle against Shinnok, Raiden is depicted torturing the fallen Elder God within the damaged Jinsei Chamber. The God of Thunder, now engulfed in a darker persona due to the Jinsei’s corruption, declares to Shinnok that mercy is no longer in his arsenal and that he will obliterate Earthrealm’s foes before they threaten the realm. Shinnok, reminding him of the impossibility of killing an Elder God, is met with Raiden’s chilling response: “There are fates worse than death,” followed by a brutal decapitation. Raiden decides to transport Shinnok to Liu Kang in the Netherrealm as a grim warning before vanishing. Suddenly, the Keeper of Time, Kronika, manifests in the chamber, furious with Raiden for disrupting the balance of time post-Mortal Kombat X. She confronts Shinnok, asserting that the Arc of Time is under her control and ominously warns, “It’s only a matter of time.” Fed up with Earthrealm’s resistance, Kronika vows to restore order to the universe by any means necessary.
