Relic Entertainment has announced its new project, Earth vs Mars, a turn-based strategy inspired by both classic sci-fi B-movies and games like Advance Wars.

The new title introduces a turn-based strategy experience inspired by both classic sci-fi B-movies and games like Advance Wars. The game combines strategic depth with a colorful, quirky aesthetic reminiscent of retro alien invasion films from the 1950s.

Set during a Martian invasion, Earth vs Mars follows humanity’s fight for survival as Martians abduct animals and humans, harvesting their atomic essence to create grotesque hybrids.

As players progress through the campaign, they’ll encounter increasingly dangerous foes, including sentient organic weapons and mutant creations.

Players will be able to create their own hybrid supersoldiers by splicing animals and humans together, creating such abominations as cheetah flies, human-rhino hybrids, and squirrel-cow infantry.

The game features a campaign with over 30 missions while also offering an online multiplayer mode for competitive play. On top of that, Earth vs Mars will include a fully-fledged map editor.

New Relic Entertainment’s creation is currently available for wishlisting on Steam, though no official release date has been announced just yet.
After splitting from Sega, the Company of Heroes franchise developer sticks to its new development strategy of moving beyond its traditional large-scale strategy games to experiment with smaller, faster-paced projects.
