On Nov. 7, dubbed N7 day 2025 by BioWare, the active development of the next Mass Effect game was announced. The studio admitted to having been busy, but “currently, the team is heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect.” The team expressed excitement regarding what they are building, and promised the community that, when they’re ready, it’ll be a lot of fun to show.
In addition, BioWare communicated an update regarding the TV series that they have been partnering closely with Amazon on. According to the update, the writers’ room is going strong, and they have figured a lot out regarding how the story fits into the universe’s timeline. The TV series will be set after the original trilogy, but won’t retell Commander Shepard’s story.
Mike Gamble, executive producer of Mass Effect, promised that there is no secret game information to be gleaned by anything he said today. But of course, that is exactly what BioWare would say if they had a secret message to share.
The last Mass Effect game was Mass Effect: Andromeda, which was released 6 years ago on March 21, 2017. BioWare also launched a major compilation and remaster through Mass Effect Legendary Edition on May 14, 2021.
