The sequel to the construction and management simulator Planet Zoo is in the works, announced the game’s developer and publisher Frontier Developments.

The announcement came from the studio’s team members in a special video dedicated to the celebration of Planet Zoo’s six-year anniversary, posted on Nov 5, 2025, promising to reveal more details on the sequel in 2026.

Planet Zoo | Celebrating Six Years 💚

A spiritual successor to Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon 2, with gameplay similar to the studio’s theme park game Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo was initially launched for Windows PC on Nov 5, 2019, and then ported to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 26, 2024.

Planet Zoo tasks players with building a zoo, featuring 76 animal species in the base game and 132 new species available through 20 separate DLCs.

As of the time of writing, the game has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 74,985 reviews.
