Unity discloses vulnerability affecting 8 years of game releases

Game developers were warned to take immediate action to protect their games and apps created on the Unity engine by an official post from Larry Hryb, director of community and advocacy at Unity, on Oct. 3, 2025.
According to the statement, the security vulnerability affects games and applications built with the Unity Engine for Android, Windows, Linux and macOS, starting from version 2017.1, which was released on July 6, 2017, and including all subsequent versions.
Unity has already started rolling out fixes. According to Hryb’s statement, “Unity has worked in close collaboration with our platform partners who have taken further steps to secure their platforms and protect end users.”
Unity has released an update for each of the major and minor versions of the Unity Editor starting with Unity 2019.1 along with a binary patcher to fix already-built applications dating back to 2017.1.
As was reported by Cointelegraph, the vulnerability presumably allows third parties to compromise users’ crypto wallets through code injected into mobile games.
