Set in a dark fantasy reimagining of Arthurian legend, the game takes place on the island of Avalon, approximately 600 years after King Arthur’s reign and subsequent fall as the land gets afflicted by a plague known as the Red Death and the Wyrdness, a chaotic, primordial force that alters reality and the beings within it.
In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, which is based on the Tainted Grail universe created by Polish fantasy writer Krzysztof Piskorski for a board game of the same name, the player begins as a prisoner who discovers they are bound to the soul of the long-dead King Arthur, whose remaining pieces of soul need to be collected to aid in his resurrection.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Very Positive” rating with 17,218 reviews and an all-time peak of 25,656 players, according to SteamDB.
