Notably, Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander serves as the cover athlete of the standard edition, Angel Reese as the cover athlete for the WNBA Edition and Carmelo Anthony, who is set to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, as the cover athlete for the Superstar Edition.
By the third quarter ending on Dec. 31, 2024, Take-Two announced that the previous installment in the series, NBA 2K25, had sold over 7 million copies, exceeding internal expectations and demonstrating strong engagement.
