  2. Remedy Entertainment is preparing to enter full production on Control 2 by February 2025.
  3. Firebreak, Control’s multiplayer spin-off, is planned for release in 2025.

Sixteen months after the launch on Oct. 27, 2023, survival horror Alan Wake 2 has officially crossed the 2 million sales mark and recouped its development and marketing costs, according to Remedy Entertainment’s financial statement release 2024.

Alan Wake 2 has finally become profitable, nearly a year after its strong initial sales. The game sold 1.3 million copies between October 2023 and March 2024, making it Remedy’s fastest-selling title. However, it wasn’t until the release of The Lake House expansion on Oct. 22, 2024, that the game’s financials turned around, pushing it past the break-even point. Nevertheless, the game remains Epic Games Store exclusive on PC and ignores Steam.

Besides the last quarter’s projects, Remedy’s CEO Tero Virtala also commented on upcoming projects, mentioning that Control 2, the sequel to the company’s 2019 hit, is now poised to enter full production by the end of February 2025. The game is being developed in collaboration with indie game developer Annapurna Interactive and is one of several projects Remedy is juggling alongside its work on Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes.

Remedy’s efforts in expanding the Control universe will also see the release of FBC: Firebreak, a multiplayer spin-off, which is currently progressing after a closed technical test in December. While a firm release date for FBC: Firebreak has not been confirmed, Remedy remains confident that it will be able to release the title later in 2025, following the game’s self-publishing strategy.
