Key points

  1. Sony has released drivers for PlayStation Link on PC, allowing fans to fully utilize PlayStation audio devices on the system.
  2. Sony’s upcoming arcade stick, the FlexStrike, will also use the PlayStation Link technology.
  3. Sony also recently announced a new Astro Bot controller.

On Sept. 2, 2025, PlayStation announced that it will gradually start rolling out a PC driver for PlayStation Link, which will allow fans to “take full control of your audio experience on PC with Pulse Elite and Explore.”

As mentioned above, the driver will allow players to update and configure the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore audio devices on PC, making them much more flexible than just an audio device reserved for those with a PlayStation 5.

It’s also worth noting that Sony’s upcoming arcade stick, the FlexStrike, will also use the PlayStation Link technology, which is great, as this will allow players who only want to use the FlexStrike on PC a way to receive firmware updates without owning a PlayStation device.

Sony also wants fans to know that PlayStation Link is different from PlayStation Accessories. The former is only for the audio devices currently under its belt, while the latter is the one used to update and customize PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers.

Recently, Sony also announced that it is opening pre-orders for a new controller based on Astro Bot on Oct. 30. The main difference between the 2024 Astro Bot controller and the new one lies in the touchpad, where the new controller features smiling eyes instead of the neutral eyes from the previous year.
