Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition has sold over 300,000 copies since its launch on July 15, 2025, according to a grateful post on X (formerly Twitter) from the game’s developer and publisher, FireFly Studios, thanking players for their support.

Launched only for PC via Steam, this remaster of 2012’s Stronghold: Crusader HD, a high-definition uplift of the original 2002’s Stronghold: Crusader, includes both the base game and 2008’s Stronghold: Crusader Extreme, an expanded version of the base title with additional AI opponents, maps, and battles featuring over 10,000 units, 8 new playable units, 4 new AI lords (20 in total), and several additional campaigns, including 2 new single-player historical campaigns and 4 new co-op skirmish trails titled Sands of Time.

The minimum system requirements for the game, cited on its official Steam page, include a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or 11, an Intel Core i3-6100 CPU or equivalent (ARM processors are not supported), 8 GB of RAM, and a GPU with 2 GB of VRAM for 1080p resolution, 3 GB of VRAM for 1440p, or 4 GB of VRAM for 4K resolution. The game requires DirectX version 11, a broadband internet connection, and at least 7 GB of available storage space.
