In a video uploaded on Aug. 27, 2025, Framework announced that it is releasing its latest version of the Framework Laptop 16, its gaming notebook entry. The laptop now features an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 as the new GPU included, as AMD left a gap in this generation of mobile GPUs.
Aside from the GPU upgrade from RX 7700S, the main board of the laptop also got a step up to the new Ryzen AI 300 processor. The CEO also addressed that the new thermal design of the Laptop 16 has been upgraded, but it remains to be seen if it actually solves the problem of loud fans present in the first version of the laptop.
The first Framework Laptop 16 was released in 2024 and featured an RX 7700S GPU from AMD. The company still offers the aforementioned GPU for people who want to stay on Team Red. Additionally, the RX 7700S it sells now features the thermal design upgrade.
It’s worth noting that the RTX 5070 module is also backwards compatible with the previous version of the Laptop 16, saving the customers money due to not having to buy a whole new laptop just to upgrade. Other upgrades to the new Laptop 16 include a 240W USB-C power adapter, a G-SYNC display, a 2nd-gen webcam and a 2nd-gen keyboard.
