Key points

  1. Twitch’s crackdown on viewbots is finally showing its results as some big streamers get their view counts slashed.
  2. Miranowhere, or simply Mira, showed a sharp decline in her viewership and has never recovered after the purge.
  3. Twitch stated that it wants each stream’s view count to remain transparent and free of viewbotting.

Twitch’s crackdown on viewbots has led to some of its biggest streamers losing a significant number of their viewers. The crackdown started almost a month ago, on July 29, 2025, and has been successful as of late.

One of the affected streamers was Miranowhere, or Mira, who had her viewer count cut down by almost 70%. Her stream on Aug. 7, 2025, showed an average viewer count of 1,035 people; however, her very next stream, on Aug. 15, pulled this count down to just 182.

Her channel hasn’t recovered from this low viewership, with her most recent stream on Aug. 24 clocking in an average viewer count of 221 and peak viewers of 338. Another streamer who was hit by the purge was Tectone, whose Aug. 21, 2025, stream showed a sharp decline from 4,000 viewers straight down to around 2,300 people mid-stream. But unlike Mira, Tectone’s stream recovered and even had many more viewers the very next day.

Twitch’s statement regarding purging viewbots said that they’re doing this to make sure that the view counts of each stream remain transparent. Additionally, the streaming company said that its goal is to “improve the experiences for both streamers and viewers” after it acknowledged that viewbots can be out of the streamer’s control.
