After more than a year of early access, The Rogue Prince of Persia 1.0 was officially released for Xbox Series X|S and PC, available via Game Pass as well. The 2D action roguelike made an appearance during the Gamescom 2025 Xbox broadcast, where its Xbox release was initially announced.
The 2D action roguelike began its early access on PC in May 2024, during which the players communicated with the devs to polish and improve the gameplay experience.
The Rogue Prince of Persia 1.0 update marks the conclusion of early access while also adding two new biomes: Port of Ctesiphon and Besieged Palace. The Port of Ctesiphon has corrupted waters, with many dangers lurking within.
As for the Besieged Palace, it was once where the royal family ruled their people, but has since become ravaged by the Huns’ attacks, causing corruption to emanate from the Throne Room. The prince must reclaim the palace by rooting out the Huns and defeating King Nogai, a new final boss. He stands at the heart of the palace.
This update marks the completion of The Rogue Prince of Persia, with only patches to cover bugs planned in the future. No new content is being developed as of writing, but the developers are open-minded to expanding upon content if the game is popular enough.
The Rogue Prince of Persia currently sits at “Very Positive” overall Steam reviews, with 1,280 users having given input as of writing. Many of the reviews were provided during the early access period.
