Euro Truck Simulator 2 is about to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, according to the recently appeared listings on the PlayStation and Xbox Stores.
Developed and published by SCS Software for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS PCs, truck driving simulator with elements of a business simulation game was initially released as open development on Oct. 18, 2012.
As of the time of writing, the game has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, with 673,989 reviews and an all-time peak of 69,754, according to SteamDB.
A direct sequel to 2008’s Euro Truck Simulator and the fourth installment in the Truck Simulator series, the game is non-linear and, like its predecessor, is set in Europe.
In Euro Truck Simulator 2, players drive their truck (or a quick job truck, if they don’t have their own truck) and pick up cargo from various locations and deliver it to their destination. As the game progresses, players can buy more vehicles and depots, as well as hire other drivers to work for them.
Since the very launch of Euro Truck Simulator 2, SCS Software has released several minor expansion packs, which expand the game just with paint job packs for trucks, while other expansion packs expanded the game with licensed content from real-life truck manufacturers, along with special tuning packs and several expansion packs that expand the functionality of the game.
As of October 17, 2022, the base game has sold over 13 million copies, along with over 80 million DLCs.
