Wuthering Waves Receives Version 2.6 With Two New Main Quest Chapters

Wuthering Waves received version 2.6 on Aug. 18, 2025, bringing two new main quest chapters, a new location and more.

The game’s main quest will be continued by Chapter II Act VIII: By Sun’s Burning Hand, slated for release on Aug. 28, 2025, and Chapter II Act IX: By Moon’s Fated Light, scheduled for launch on Sept. 17, 2025.

Augusta and Iuno will be major characters in version 2.6 as Rinascita’s story continues to unfold.

The title also received a new area, Sanguis Plateaus; Tactical Hologram: Lady of the Sea; and new weapons, Thunderflare Dominion and Moongazer’s Sigil.

Besides that, version 2.6 also dropped new echoes, including The False Sovereign, Lady of the Sea and Corrosaurus, along with new Phantom Echoes, Fallacy of No Return and Kerasaur, and new Nightmare Echoes: Gulpuff, Chirpuff, Cyan-Feathered Heron, Violet-Feathered Heron, Aero Predator and Electro Predator.

Wuthering Waves has also received two new Sonata effects that change how characters can enhance their combat abilities. The first one, Crown of Valor, strengthens a resonator whenever they gain a shield. Each time this happens, their attack power rises by 6%, and their critical damage increases by 4% for four seconds. This boost can activate as often as every half second and can stack up to five times, making shield generation a powerful way to build momentum in battle. As for the second effect, Law of Harmony, it is tied to the use of Echo Skills. When a character casts one, they immediately gain a 30% heavy attack damage bonus for four seconds. At the same time, every resonator on the team benefits from an additional 4% Echo Skill damage bonus that lasts 30 seconds and can stack up to four times. Each Echo can only trigger this once, and the stacks reset when the effect ends. However, once the team reaches the maximum four stacks, using another Echo Skill refreshes the duration, allowing players to maintain the full effect with careful timing.

Developed and published by Kuro Games on Unreal Engine 4, Wuthering Waves was initially launched on May 22, 2024. The free-to-play open-world ARPG is playable on both Android and iOS platforms, PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam and both Windows and macOS PCs via the Epic Games Store.

Wuthering Waves is set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world called Solaris-3, where a catastrophe called the Lament wipes out most of humanity and unleashes monsters called Tacet Discords onto Solaris-3. The story of the game follows the Rover, an amnesiac wanderer who has awakened from a deep slumber and sets out to explore this new world, accompanied by Abby, a small, levitating cat-like being that regularly communicates with others as they journey throughout the world in search of their past and origins.

As of the time of writing, the game has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 20,857 reviews.

Wuthering Waves received four awards in different categories across multiple industry award ceremonies.
