Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition surpassed 150,000 copies sold in less than 24 hours since its release on Aug. 14, 2025, according to an announcement on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Developed and published by Relic Entertainment, the game was launched only for PC via Steam and GOG.

The definitive edition of the first real-time strategy game in the Dawn of War series includes the base title bundled with all three DLCs: Winter Assault, Dark Crusade and Soulstorm.

Notably, the title features nine full-fledged factions, over 200 maps and a multiplayer mode supporting up to eight players.

As for the other updates, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition received upscaled units with upgraded textures, improved world lighting and more detailed shadows, 4K support, an enhanced battlefield camera and a HUD and screen layout optimized for modern widescreen viewing, along with modding support on 64-bit platforms and an integrated Mod Manager.

As of the time of writing, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam with 3,698 reviews and an all-time peak of 18,262 players.

The game takes place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, a grim, futuristic galaxy dominated by humanity’s vast Imperium. The single-player campaign unfolds on Tartarus, an Imperial colony under attack by Orks. Players control the Blood Ravens’ 3rd Company, led by Captain Gabriel Angelos, who comes to aid the planet’s Imperial Guard, commanded by Colonel Carus Brom.
