On Aug. 16, 2025, Lim “Ulsan” Soo-hoon was crowned as the first-ever back-to-back EWC champion for Tekken 8. He defeated Yoon “LowHigh” Sun-woong in the grand final to cement himself as one of the best players Tekken 8 has ever seen.
Ulsan had a dominant performance throughout the tournament, losing only in the second phase to Kim “Kkokkoma” Mu-jong, which sent him to an elimination match against the Tekken 8 Evo 2025 champion, Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique. He then proceeded to eliminate both of the aforementioned players to qualify for the third phase.
In this phase, Ulsan showed just how dominant he is in Tekken 8, defeating all of his third-phase opponents with ease. His game count in the grand final against LowHigh was 5-2.
In an interview with EWC, Ulsan said that he had a rough start this year and that he “cannot imagine I would win again.” He also mentioned that his main, Dragunov, was nerfed, which gave him a lot of difficulty. Ulsan ended the interview by saying, “I’m still hungry. I just want to make myself a legend.”
Ulsan’s Tekken 8 win secured DN Freecs 1,200 club points, propelling the esports organization to 11th place in the Club Championship standings. EWC stated that, even though DN Freecs had three players in the top eight of the tournament, they only received “one lot of points.”
