On Aug. 14, 2025, NetEase published its unaudited financial results, which revealed that the company has earned a total of $3.9 billion, an increase of 9.4% year-over-year. A large portion of that came from its games-related revenue, which reached $3.2 billion, a 13.7% increase year-over-year.
The company mentioned a few games that were notable performers in the press release, including FragPunk, which placed second on PlayStation’s North America free-to-play downloads in May. The game was released on April 29 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
NetEase also acknowledged Marvel Rivals for reaching second place among Steam’s global top-sellers and even getting first place after the drop of its Summer Party Event. Once Human was also mentioned for reaching fourth place on Steam after its anniversary update.
In February of this year, the whole team under Marvel Rivals game director Thaddeus Sasser was laid off despite the game’s continued success. The layoffs were reportedly due to NetEase moving away from US development due to its high cost. Finally, there were also reports of NetEase almost canceling Marvel Rivals’ release, as its CEO did not want to pay Disney royalties.
