Developed by EA Orlando and published by EA Sports, the game is based on the American National Football League (NFL) and is a successor to Madden NFL 25.

Saquon Barkley became the cover athlete for the game and the second Eagles player to appear on the Madden cover, following Donovan McNabb on Madden NFL 06.

The game, developed on the Frostbite Engine, was launched on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Notably, all the platforms except Nintendo Switch 2 will feature cross-play.
