On Aug. 13, 2025, Pearl Abyss, the developers of Crimson Desert, held an earnings conference call where they revealed that the game was “unavoidably delayed” due to a “longer than expected timeline.”
The studio revealed that Crimson Desert is currently in the process of voice-overs. They also mentioned that they will participate in Gamescom and PAX West this month, in addition to the Tokyo Game Show in September, to promote the game in various markets.
This means that the game will be playable in those events for people who are keen on attending. But Pearl Abyss mentioned that the release date “has been internally confirmed for Q1 2026,” but they won’t make an announcement at Gamescom and will wait until the time is much more appropriate before making one.
The game has already been delayed a number of times. In 2020, Wccftech reported that the game was supposed to be released in Winter 2021. Its latest release date before the current delay was in Fall 2025.
Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert is the studio’s first large-scale AAA console game. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and macOS.
