Overwatch 2’s newest upcoming hero, Wuyang, had its official gameplay revealed in a trailer. The hero releases on Aug 28, with hero trials beginning from Aug 14 to 18. Wuyang plays as a support, utilizing a hybrid playstyle built on flow, precision, and constant disruption, according to the official blog post.
Here is the Overwatch 2 new hero’s kit, which was leaked in late July:
Weapon
- Xuanwu Staff (left click): Fire a damaging water orb. Hold to control it’s trajectory and empower it’s explosion.
- Restorative Stream (right click): Place a passive healing stream on an ally. Hold on the target to manually heal at an improved rate, consuming resource.
Abilities
- Guardian Wave: Send a water wave forward that increases the amount of healing received by allies and knocks back enemies.
- Rushing Torrent: Ride water to move faster and jump higher.
Ultimate
- Tidal Blast: Protect an ally or yourself with water that detonates after a short duration. The explosion knocks down enemies and massively heals the blast target.
Wuyang’s story centers around the hero’s family legacy at the prodigious Wuxing University. But instead of following the path his family traditionally pursued, Wuyang chose a different path of study, thereby facing conflict with his family. The hero is on a journey to prove that his path is just as worthy, despite straying from the familiar norms.
The gameplay trailer for Wuyang was revealed on Aug 13, while the story trailer debuted on Aug. 11. The narrative trailer was in a comic book format, voiced by Howard Wang.
