Peak The Mesa Update to Add New Biome, Items, and More

Peak teased its upcoming event: The Mesa Update, slated to release on Aug. 11, 2025. The update was revealed via social media on Aug. 8, accompanied by a short teaser trailer; the update will add a new biome, items, badges, and dynamite, according to the official social media post. 

A new biome refers to a new playable map, providing new obstacles for players to go through. No information regarding the items was revealed, but information regarding them will arrive within the official The Mesa Update patch notes, which arrive on Aug. 11.

Prior to marketing its upcoming update, the development team for Peak called out Roblox ripoff of the game for being fraught with microtransactions, labeling it a “slop ripoff.” The social media post amassed over 100,000 likes; no legal action has been taken to remove Cliff, the Peak-inspired Roblox game. 

The multiplayer climbing game’s last patch added cannibalism, allowing players to eat their teammates under specific circumstances. And with Peak The Mesa Update, marketed to bring dynamite, the team sabotage mechanics are increasing in abundance. 

Peak sold over 5 million copies in under a month since its initial release. It was released on June 17, 2025, and currently has a “Very Positive” review score on Steam. The game set a record for its all-time peak concurrent players on Steam of 114,492 players. Peak was originally developed as part of a game jam held in February 2025, according to an article by Noisy Pixel.
