On Aug. 4, 2025, Elden Ring Nightreign dataminers found a new game mode that FromSoftware is developing for the game called The Deep of the Night. According to them, this mode will be somewhat of an endless mode as long as the team continues to win.
Just like normal runs, targets will be random. However, this new mode will introduce a matchmaking rating, or ELO, which can be won or lost depending on the progress the team has made. Killing bosses increases player rating, and losing will lower it.
The dataminers also talk of something called “Depth,” which acts as divisions. Matchmaking in The Deep of the Night will only pair you up with players in the same Depth, but it has the chance to expand if there are not enough players.
Additionally, some runs might feature “magmafied” enemies, which are a type of enemy that looks more orange than usual and has magma-colored veins. It’s unknown whether magmafied enemies will have a different moveset or status. The dataminers did not say when Elden Ring Nightreign will add the new game mode.
Recently, Elden Ring Nightreign added a duo mode, allowing players to tackle the game’s map with another player. This mode was reportedly overlooked by the studio and focused on balancing the game around single-player and three-player co-op.
