The revamped version of Disco Elysium moves away from its original isometric RPG mechanics, reimagining the game as a visual novel-style experience tailored for vertical screens.
Disco Elysium was initially released for Windows PCs on October 15, 2019, and then in April 2020 for macOS PCs. The title’s expanded version, featuring full voice acting and new content and subtitled The Final Cut, was launched for PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2021, alongside a free update for the Windows PC version.
The game follows a troubled, habitual drunkard detective who has lost his memory, badge, gun, and even a basic understanding of the surrounding world. While investigating a murder alongside a detective from another precinct, the player can piece together the puzzle of the protagonist’s identity and uncover what led him to such a state.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 104,212 reviews.
