- Starfield is supposedly slated to release in 2026 for the PlayStation 5.
- The port was reportedly delayed due to low sales of its first expansion.
- Starfield’s second expansion is scheduled for Spring 2026.
Starfield’s PlayStation 5 port was reportedly delayed to 2026, partially due to the low sales of its first expansion: Shattered Space, according to a report from WCFTech. Within the report, the outlet also states that the second expansion is scheduled for the Spring of 2026. The outlet believes that the game will likely not receive a reveal during the upcoming Gamescon and that it will not be shadowdropped this year.
Starfield: Shattered Space expanded upon the story of the base game, providing new quest content and enemies. But the expansion added no new gameplay systems, powers, or skills, once again not shattering a lot of conventions, as according to IGN’s review of the expanion.
At the time of writing, Starfield is available on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game released in Sept. 2023, but failed to break sales records despite the abundant marketing surrounding the game. Developed by Bethesda Games, the title, prior to release, was one of the most anticipated games of 2023. On Steam, Starfield currently sits at “Mixed” overall Steam reviews, with over 100,000 reviews having been published for the title on the platform.
The single-player space exploration game saw criticism for having an uninspired vision, as written in GameSpot’s review of the title. The sentiment was shared by various reviewers, with IGN stating that “there are a lot of forces working against it, and the combination of disjointed space travel, nonexistent maps, aggravating inventory management, and a slow rollout of essential abilities nearly did it in.”
