Warner Bros. Games is planning to develop a new live service game, despite the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which contributed to a $200 million loss and became one of the reasons the publisher saw a revenue decline of 48% (excluding foreign currency effects) in Q1 2025 and 29% drop in Q4 2024.

The news was discovered through a job listing from WB Games Montréal seeking an Executive Producer, with one of the role’s requirements being a “Deep understanding of the full game development lifecycle, including live services.” The position implies responsibilities to “Oversee post-launch content and live service strategy, ensuring ongoing player engagement.”

It is yet to be revealed which IP the company will use for the live service game development, but it will most likely be either Hogwarts Legacy, or Mortal Kombat, or Game of Thrones, or DC, as David Zaslav, President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, previously outlined that the company will focus on these four major franchises.

At the beginning of 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery shut down Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB Games San Diego. As a result of these closures, the development of the Wonder Woman title from Monolith Productions was canceled, despite reportedly costing over $100 million.

Notably, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has a “Mixed” rating on Steam with 10,938 reviews and a Metascore of only 60 points.
