Dune: Awakening Developers Banned Hundreds of Cheaters and Disabled Family Sharing

Dune: Awakening developers banned hundreds of cheaters as a response to widespread cheats that plagued the game. In an update blog, the devs communicated that they are still working out fixes for other exploits, and that they have implemented numerous hotfixes to prevent them, made evident through previous patch updates. In addition, Family Sharing has been disabled temporarily as the devs continue to balance the game.
According to the blog, Family Sharing has been abused frequently to cheat the game. The developers apologized on behalf of those using the feature legitimately as they aim towards implementing anti-cheat measures. The developers communicated that they do not yet have an estimated time of arrival for re-enabling Family Sharing, but they are aiming to implement the changes “within this year.”
“We are aware of some other issues caused by cheats and we have fixes in the works that we aim to implement in the next patches,” the developers commented in the update blog.
Dune: Awakening was released on June 10 on Steam; the console versions are slated to release on an undisclosed date in 2026. The title surpassed 140,000 concurrent peak players on Steam the day of release. Prior to release, during its head start period, Dune: Awakening amassed nearly 100,000 players.
