Pac-Man was released in May 22, 1980 in Japan. It was designed by Toru Iwatani for Japanese company Namco, which later evolved into Bandai Namco. During its initial debut, Pac-Man was actually known as Puck-Man in Japan, but was later changed to preemptively prevent vandalization.
