Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate DLC, released on July 15, 2025, broke multiple endgame activities and wrecked several mechanics.
On top of that, the game’s community on Reddit spotted a bunch of shadow nerfs and buffs that were loaded into the game in the three days after the expansion’s launch.
After the launch of the new expansion, the Vault of Glass raid became inaccessible, as the game crashes instantly when a player tries to enter the activity.
The game’s latest raid, at the time of writing, Salvation’s Edge, became impossible to clear because the second-to-last encounter, Verity, unavoidably wipes teams trying to complete it, no matter what actions they take.
Besides that, boss HP bars in King’s Fall appeared bugged and incorrectly displayed incoming damage.
Meanwhile, following the DLC launch, the Prophecy Dungeon also got bugged, as it softlocks after the second encounter and requires players to back out to orbit and restart from the checkpoint to beat it.
Moreover, the Duality dungeon became impossible to complete because the core mechanic literally instantly kills the player.
Furthermore, since the DLC’s launch, raid banners (items that replenish ammo and ability energy) have failed to provide ammo, supers, and ability energy.
On top of that, after the release of The Edge of Fate expansion, Destiny 2 constantly crashes on Xbox systems, with malfunctions occurring as often as every 1.5 to 2 hours.
All the mentioned problems hit the game ahead of the launch of the new raid, The Desert Perpetual, which is set to launch on July 19, 2025.
Set in a mythic sci-fi universe, Destiny 2 features a multiplayer environment with elements of role-playing games and, like its predecessor, is divided into PvE and PvP environments.
Destiny 2 was originally published by Activision until, on December 31, 2018, Bungie acquired the publishing rights to the franchise. The first-person shooter serves as the sequel to 2014’s Destiny. The game was initially released as a pay-to-play title for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, and for Windows PC on October 24, 2017. Simultaneously with the launch of the Shadowkeep DLC, Destiny 2 became free-to-play on October 1, 2019. The game was also ported to Google’s Stadia cloud gaming service on November 19, 2019, and later received versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on December 8, 2020.
The Edge of Fate became the tenth DLC following Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, Lightfall and The Final Shape.
Between 2017 and 2019, Destiny 2 earned six industry awards from different acclaimed ceremonies.
