Harrison Ford has voiced his admiration for Troy Baker’s portrayal of Indiana Jones in Bethesda’s game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

During an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Ford praised Baker for his performance, emphasizing that it was the result of talent and creativity rather than reliance on artificial intelligence.

Troy Baker, known for his roles in games like The Last of Us and BioShock Infinite, took on the challenge of voicing and performing motion capture for the famed professor of archaeology, a role Ford has played in movies for over four decades. Ford commended Baker’s work, saying, “He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it.”

While AI technology was used in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny to digitally de-age Ford’s likeness for flashback sequences, the actor was clear that he had little interest in using AI to perpetuate his image beyond his own career. “You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent,” Ford remarked, speaking to his belief that genuine artistry should drive performance in storytelling.

Baker’s journey to becoming Indiana Jones took months of preparation, with the actor undergoing multiple auditions and callbacks. Eventually, The Great Circle’s director, Tom Keegan and Bethesda’s Todd Howard, who had once expressed skepticism about Baker’s fit for the role, were convinced by his dedication and skill.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which has already garnered four million players on PC and Xbox, is gearing up for a PS5 release this spring.
