S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is slated for release on PlayStation 5 in late 2025, according to an official announcement from the game’s developer posted on X (formerly Twitter) on July 9, 2025.
Developed and published by GSC Game World, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was initially launched on Nov. 24, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
This first-person shooter with survival horror elements follows the story of Yevhen “Skif” Martynenko on his path to becoming a Stalker, after awakening in an apartment destroyed by an anomaly that has mysteriously appeared outside the Chornobyl Zone.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the fourth main installment in the series, and the first franchise title in 15 years since the release of 2009’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
The game sold 1 million copies within 48 hours of its release. By March 4, 2025, the game had reached 6 million players.
As of the time of writing, the game featured a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 87,662 reviews and an all-time peak of 121,335 players, according to SteamDB.
