Netflix has canceled six upcoming video game releases, including Compass Point: West, Lab Rat, Don’t Starve Together, Rotwood, Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game, and Thirsty Suitors, according to a report from What’s on Netflix.

All six titles had previously been released and were not set to debut on Netflix for the first time. Instead, they were planned as re-releases on the platform.

The cancellation is supposedly a part of Netflix’s plan to refine its gaming catalogue – but no specific reasons were shared regarding why each individual game did not fit Netflix’s criteria.

As a whole, it appears Netflix is attempting to figure out what their consumers enjoy, and are catering the catalogue of games accordingly. As of February 4, 2025, Netflix’s biggest hit was the Grand Theft Auto series, so it is reasonable to expect more brand recognized titles on their platform in the future.

Most of the games on Netflix’s catalogue are for mobile, with substantially fewer games available on PC. The mobile Netflix app redirects the user to a download link. Clicking the link then installs the said game onto the mobile device – assuming the device’s specs are within the runnable parameters. As for the PC games, Netflix runs the title via cloud gaming.

To play the games, players are required to have a Netflix account – the specific rules regarding Netflix gaming are outlined on their official website.
