Capcom announced its policy against customer harassment on July 4, five days after the release of the Monster Hunter Wilds Title 2 update. The announcement was made in Japanese, and reported on originally by IT Media News; quotes from the statement are Google-translated iterations.

“We have confirmed some instances of detailed slander, libel, denigration of the character of our executive and employees by name or in a manner that recalls specific divisions, as well as harassment, threats to harm or disrupt business, directed at our customer support desk, on social media, and through review and posting sites on game sales sites,” the statement reads.

“Such behavior has the potential to undermine the mental and physical health of employees involved with our company,” the statement continues.

The statement then redirects to the Guidelines for Responding to Customer Harassment policy, based on the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare’s Corporate Manual for Countermeasures against Customers.

“We may refuse to provide support or services if we find any of the following behaviors that are beyond the scope of socially acceptable standards. Furthermore, in severe cases, we may contact the police or lawyers and take legal action, including criminal proceedings,” the policy states.

The exact threats and individuals affected were not listed. Though not confirmed to be the exact reason, Monster Hunter Wilds title 2 was released on June 30, 2025. The update resulted in worse performance in numerous players’ PCs. The developers have also confirmed that the next update to the game will be released in late September 2025.
