The developers of Ratatan, Ratata Arts, have decided to indefinitely delay the game’s early access release. According to them, the June demo of the game was downloaded over 200,000 times, and this resulted in over 2,000 pieces of feedback.
Ratata Arts admitted that it will not be able to properly address the amount of feedback they have received from the players during the demo. The studio also laid down the five main complaints it received from players:
- The tutorial and UI are difficult to understand.
- The roguelike structure and reward pacing feel unsatisfying.
- Frustration over some Ratatans being unable to use skills.
- Lack of impact in visuals and presentation.
- Requests for improvements to content structure, pacing and mid-term gameplay flow.
Additionally, the studio has also made a few changes for those who have backed the game on Kickstarter. One of these changes is for those who chose the console version of the game. The developers promised that they would be given more rewards, as they’d have to wait a lot longer than PC players.
Ratatan is a rhythm roguelike game being developed by the people behind Patapon. It’s planned to be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch. Ratatan was supposed to go into early access on July 25, 2025. The developers have not announced a new release date as of the writing of this article.
