RimWorld will receive a paid expansion titled Odyssey on July 11, 2025, according to the developer’s post on X (formerly Twitter).
The fifth paid DLC will be released simultaneously with a free 1.6 title update, just like other expansions that were launched alongside major free updates.
The upcoming expansion is set to introduce a new gravship-building mechanic, a new landmarks system, 100-day journeys around the world, new biomes like Glowforest, over 40 new animals, a new weapon system, new gear, and multiple new quests, as reported in exquisite detail by Gaming.News in June 2025.
On top of that, the Odyssey DLC is bolstered by a new album of music by Alistair Lindsay, composer of the RimWorld soundtrack.

As for update 1.6, it will bring reduced game launch time, an improved planning system, different drawing styles for designator tools, caravan camps, easier building upgrades, new art, an improved search bar, revamped map generation, reworked Scaria, and changes to rooms, armor, and weapons, as well as over 326 different fixes, major performance optimizations, quality-of-life changes, and UI improvements.
Developed by Canadian game designer Tynan Sylvester and published by Ludeon Studios, RimWorld was launched on October 17, 2018, and is currently available on Linux, macOS, and Windows PCs, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Besides Odyssey, the game has already received the Anomaly, Biotech, Ideology, and Royalty expansions.
As of the time of writing, the game has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam with 180,170 reviews and an all-time peak of 62,257 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
