- EA thinks that the release of the Switch 2 will be beneficial for the company.
- Andrew Wilson, CEO and Chairman of EA, thinks that FC and Madden will do good on the console.
- Wilson closes the earnings call by saying that they’re seeing “significant opportunities” for EA Sports expansion.
In an earnings call on February 04, Andrew Wilson, CEO and Chairman of EA, said that the release of Switch 2 has the potential to boost sales of FC and Madden games.
“Any time a new console comes into the marketplace, that’s of a benefit to us,” added Wilson. He then explained that this is because it means that their games will reach a whole new set of audience. According to him, their franchises typically “performed very well on Nintendo platforms”.
He’s also expecting that FC and Madden will find “real energy” on the Switch 2 as they have done in the past. It is unclear what Wilson meant by this, but the obvious guess will be about high sales, considering that this is an earnings call after all. He also mentioned that MySims: Cozy Bundle overperformed in the system and that 50% of the players who played it were new to EA.
He then closed his answer by saying that any time there’s a “great new console” being released that gives them access to new players and communities, they have an IP that will be able to take advantage of it.
One thing to take note of here is that Wilson mentioned Madden when talking about the Nintendo Switch 2. There are no Madden games currently available on the Nintendo Switch. Wilson ended the earnings call by saying that they’re “accelerating our vision for the EA Sports app” and that they’re also seeing “significant opportunities” for the expansion of their EA Sports franchises.
EA has made a name for themselves by developing sports games. The studio has developed sports games for most of the mainstream sports out there including basketball, soccer, and even golf.
