Overload and 20v20 modes will be part of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, according to a recent leak from CharlieIntel posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Originally, the 20v20 mode, titled Skirmish in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, was planned for release in 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. At the time, it was heavily playtested and promoted, but it didn’t launch with the game, and the developers have not mentioned the mode since.
As for Overload mode, according to the leak, it will allow two six-unit teams to battle over control of a neutral EMP device that must be delivered to the enemy’s headquarters for a score.
Co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be the 22nd installment of the Call of Duty franchise and the eighth main entry in the Black Ops sub-series, following 2024’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The game is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
It is already confirmed that the upcoming first-person shooter will feature a single-player/co-op campaign, a multiplayer component and the cooperative round-based Zombies mode.
The story of the game will follow the Black Ops team led by David Mason, set in 2035 following the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
