Released on Oct. 11, a 3D fighter developed by Spike Chunsoft marks the first new entry in the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series in over 15 years. The game offers 182 characters, featuring heroes and villains from across the Dragon Ball franchise.

“We knew the return of the Budokai Tenkaichi series would excite long-time fans, but the response has been beyond our expectations,” a Bandai Namco spokesperson stated. “The passion of the Dragon Ball community has truly propelled Sparking Zero to new heights.”

The Dragon Ball video games are inspired by Akira Toriyama’s manga franchise. Starting in 1990, following the release of the second anime television series, the games adopted the Dragon Ball Z branding.
