Embracer Group downsized its employee headcount by over 1800 people in the past year; the PC and console games segment saw the biggest drop off from 6,404 employees to 4,918, according to an annual report initially covered by Game Developer. The mobile section was reduced from 1,081 to 742 employees.

The headcount drop in the Entertainment and Services division is not as significant, with Embracer currently employing 738 workers, which is 33 fewer than the previous year.  A sizeable portion of the reduced headcount under Embracer Group is a direct result of its restructuring program, which began in June 2023 after a proposed $2 billion partnership fell through.

Embracer Group’s annual report also shared details regarding its Sustainability Policy, which is catered towards supporting its workers.

“Specifically related to people, it addresses areas such as working conditions, corporate culture, Human Rights and Labor Rights, […] ensuring leaders have the right conditions to manage teams and enhance organizational value,” the report reads.

Embracer Group is a global gaming conglomerate consisting of numerous game development companies, including Amplifier Game Invest, CDE Entertainment, Coffee Stain Studios, Dark Horse Media, Deca Games, Freemode, Plaion and THQ Nordic. The conglomerate’s notable games currently consists of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Deus Ex, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth.
