Hades II received The Unseen update, with the game’s development now starting to prepare for leaving early access and the launch of the title’s version 1.0.

The third major update for Hades II in early access became available on June 17, 2025.

According to The Unseen update patch notes, general gameplay will see changes such as reduced stun-lock, slightly earlier spawning waves of foes, melee strikes no longer being negated by certain obstacles and all locations can now be exited earlier than before, right after collecting rewards. On top of that, Melinoë’s Olympic Slam entrances on Olympus became faster and now hit a wider area, and the infrequent second stage of Rod of Fishing sequences was removed.

Also, Hades II’s The Unseen update adds such features as:

  • The final secret form of each of the Nocturnal Arms that players can discover
  • New challenges from each Guardian that can be revealed in the Oath of the Unseen
  • The smoother, snappier fighting style for The Flames of Ygnium
  • The Path of Stars, which now can infuse each Selene Hex with a new Olympian power
  • New optional events
  • New foes in Erebus and the City of Ephyra
  • Visual flourishes, such as ambient effects on character portraits
  • New music

On top of that, Supergiant Games officially announced that after more than one year of early access, which started on May 5, 2024, the game’s development is now moving toward the launch of version 1.0. According to the company’s statement, besides multiple finishing touches, this final phase includes adding the story’s true ending. Notably, Supergiant Games hasn’t set a date for the full release.

Supergiant Games also highlighted that it doesn’t have any plans to create new regions, encounters or abilities. In addition to the true ending and finishing touches, Hades II will only receive achievements that are promised to be rewarded retrospectively.

A roguelike dungeon crawler, Hades II is developed and published by Supergiant Games. Serving as a sequel to 2020’s Hades, it follows the story of Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and sister to the protagonist of the first game, Zagreus, as she aims to defeat the Titan of Time, Chronos, who has returned to enact revenge on all gods and mortals who opposed him in the past and has taken Melinoë’s family prisoner.

As of the time of writing, the early access version of Hades II has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 60,433 reviews and a peak of 103,567 concurrent players, according to SteamDB. On top of that, Hades II was awarded “Most Promising Game (Independent Game)” at the UCG Game Awards in 2024.
