Dying Light: The Beast is set to release on August 22, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The release date was announced during the Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase.
Originally conceived as downloadable content for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, The Beast evolved into a standalone title following a 2023 leak of its storyline. Set in the post-apocalyptic Castor Woods, the game follows Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the original Dying Light, as he seeks revenge after enduring 13 years of experimentation.
Unlike Dying Light 2, The Beast is not being developed as a live-service game, instead offering a more focused, self-contained experience.
The original Dying Light debuted on January 27, 2015; the sequel released in 2022. The series has gained significant commercial success, selling around 30 million copies.
