- Lance McDonald was hit by a DMCA takedown request regarding his 60fps Bloodborne mod.
- Lance has complied with the requst and took down links to its downloads.
- As of writing, there’s still no official Bloodborne patch that runs the game in 60fps.
Lance McDonald, the modder behind the 60fps Bloodborne mod, was hit by a DMCA takedown request on January 31. The takedown locks its eyes on the aforementioned mod and wants Lance to remove links referencing it.
Lance notified his followers about this on his Twitter page where he also said that he had complied with the takedown. According to him, even though the mod doesn’t contain any copyright-infringing content, he’s not interested in arguing about it. He’s already happy to be able to contribute to Bloodborne’s history that way.
The mod was first showcased in October 2020 when Lance uploaded a video of it in action. However, the mod wasn’t uploaded until February 2021 due to him waiting for PlayStation to release their own 60fps patch out of respect. Digital Foundry has also released their own video about the mod which includes an interview with Lance.
Lance also added that he’s not interested in re-uploading the mod as players can just “find it if they want”.
Bloodborne is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware. It was released in March 2015 with positive review scores evident by the game having a score of 92/100 on Metacritic.
However, the game was released with a 30fps cap in the PS4 generation which left players wanting more. Bloodborne has been the center of discussion for a long time now with players wanting it to have a remaster of the game.
